Your contract's own holidays

Many collective agreements pay more holidays than the law, or have their own rules on who qualifies. Set your contract's holidays so Paycheq pays the right days.

Setting them up

  1. Open Jobs, tap your job, then Contract rules.

  2. Tap Holidays.

  3. Turn on Use my agreement's holidays.

  4. Under The law's holidays, turn off any your contract doesn't pay.

  5. Under Extra days, turn on any it adds: Easter Monday, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, December 31, Civic Holiday, Remembrance Day or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, where the law doesn't already have them.

  6. Under To be paid for a holiday, choose who qualifies:

    • Employed at least 30 days

    • Worked the scheduled day after (or had permission)

    • Worked a number of days before: set how many days in how many days before.

  1. Tap Save on the job.

With it off, holidays and who qualifies follow the labour law.

How much you're paid

  • Holiday pay is a day's wage: 8 hours at your regular rate, unless you've changed the Holiday pay rule.

  • Holiday rate is what you're paid for hours you work on a holiday, such as 2×, with Plus holiday pay if you also get the day's wage.

Good to know

  • If you choose Worked the scheduled day after, each holiday's day card in Week asks you whether you did.

  • Holiday hours count toward the week, on the Contract rules screen, adds a paid holiday you don't work to the week's hours for weekly overtime.

  • In British Columbia, if your agreement covers statutory holidays, its terms replace the Act's.

  • Estimates only. Not legal advice. Check your collective agreement.
