Shifts entered at 1.5× or 2×

If your employer paid a whole shift at time and a half or double time, you can enter it at that rate. If the shift also goes into overtime, Paycheq pays the higher of the two rates, never one multiplied by the other.

When to use it

Only pick time and a half or double time for a shift when the whole shift was paid at that rate, such as a shift you were asked to cover at double time.

Don't use it for overtime, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays or night windows. Paycheq adds those for you from your rules.

Choosing the rate

  • Entering a shift by hand: in the shift, tap Hourly rate and choose the rate.

  • While you're clocked in: if you've added other rates, tap Hourly rate on the Clock card and choose one. Time and a half and double time of your usual rate are shown on the Clock card for reference.

How overtime works with it

Say your rate is $30 and you enter a shift at 1.5× ($45 an hour):

  • Hours that fall into 1.5× overtime stay at $45. They aren't paid at 1.5 × 1.5.

  • Hours that fall into 2× overtime are paid $60, double your usual rate.

Each hour is paid the highest rate that applies to it.

Good to know

  • To fix the rate on a saved shift, open it from Week, change Hourly rate and tap Save.

  • If your contract's rules set When multipliers overlap to Multiply together, rates do multiply. Most contracts don't.

  • Estimates only. Not legal advice.
