Entering a cheque stub

Copy the numbers from your real pay stub into Paycheq to see how close the estimate was, and to make future estimates closer. Comparing with your cheque is part of Paycheq Pro.

Entering a stub

  1. Open the Pay tab. If you have more than one job, choose the job at the top left.

  2. Make sure Pay period is showing, then use the arrows to go to the pay period the cheque covers.

  3. Scroll to Your actual cheque and tap Enter cheque stub.

  4. Fill in the amounts for this cheque:

    • Gross pay: starts at Paycheq's estimate. Change it to the stub's figure.

    • Federal tax and your province's tax.

    • CPP, CPP2 and EI.

    • Other deductions: everything else, such as union dues, benefits and pension, added together.

    • Net pay: the amount deposited. This is the only one you must fill in.

  1. Tap Save.

Use the "current" or "this period" column on your stub, not year to date.

What you'll see

The Your actual cheque card shows Actual net, Estimated net and the Difference. A plus means your cheque was more than the estimate; a minus means less.

What Paycheq does with your stubs

  • Based on your past cheques: the Net estimate card adds a line with the estimate adjusted by your usual difference. Paycheq uses the middle value of all your stubs' differences, so one odd cheque doesn't throw it off.

  • CPP and EI totals: the CPP and EI you enter replace Paycheq's estimates in your year-to-date totals, so they stop at the yearly maximum at the right time. Leave both blank to keep the estimates.

Changing or deleting a stub

Open the pay period and tap Edit cheque stub. To remove it, tap Delete cheque stub at the bottom.

Good to know

  • Each job has its own stubs.

  • If you change your hourly rate later, pay periods with a stub compare against the new rate. Paycheq tells you when you save the job.

  • Stubs are kept if Pro ends. They come back into use when you get Pro again.

  • Estimates only. Not legal or tax advice.
